This effort requires the body to burn some calories. It is estimated that if you drink eight glasses of cold water a day, your body will burn over 60 calories daily as it reacts to raise body temperature to normal levels. The end result of this is that in an average week, you could lose nearly 500 calories simply by drinking about eight glasses of cold water a day.
